2024 SRO Workshop and Fundraising

On May 24, 2022, an eighteen year old coward entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas and killed nineteen students and two teachers. The news of another active shooter and countless victims will always turn our stomachs and elicit strong emotions. However, the Uvalde school shooting would prove to be unique in that Law Enforcement inaction became the topic of discussion once the smoke cleared. Over 300 Law Enforcement Officers waited 77 minutes before attempting to make entry into the room that the shooter occupied. While these officers waited, children called 911 begging for help.

Law Enforcement Officers and parents throughout the nation were disgusted by the inaction of officers on scene that day. There were many factors that could have played into their decision not to act but one factor is clear, lack of training. Well-trained officers are confident in their abilities and decisive when faced with stressful situations. This is not what we saw on May 24th.

Readiness Training Group NJ was created with one singular mission in mind: provide training to those that seek it. We knew we had the capability to make change and the drive to act. On June 10th, 2022, RTG announced that we would be hosting a School Resource Officer Workshop. This workshop would consist of instruction on Firearms Marksmanship, Door Breaching, and Medical Preparedness by experts in each respective field. The decision was made to make the training FREE for School Resource Officers to attend in an attempt to cut the red tape of L.E. training. All thirty spots were filled and the first annual RTG SRO Workshop was held on 08/12/2022.

RTG is committed to hosting the SRO Workshop every year to provide training to the men and women that guard our children.
